What better way to beat the January blues than to hop on a plane and fly to the other side of the world? As a destination photographer and videographer, I’ve been lucky enough to capture at some amazing locations around the globe. But this one really was something special. My husband and I were over the moon to have the opportunity to capture Anna & Bob’s destination wedding in Sydney, Australia – but we never thought we would fall in love with the place, the people and the beauty of New South Wales like we did! What an adventure.
A Wedding Ceremony at Palm Beach
After preparations with the bride at a gorgeous Airbnb just down the road, we kicked off the festivities in style at Palm Beach, (where they filmed Home and Away!). The vibe was pure magic as the bridal party danced down the aisle to Bob waiting – smile beaming – for his lovely bride. The ceremony, led by Victoria Eustace, All We Need Is Love Celebrant, was so lovely and personal, lending to their incredibly journey together and also their relaxed personalities. They shared their first kiss, and then, with their friends and family cheering wildly, they danced their way back down the aisle to their champagne reception by the beach!
The Reception on a Boat with Zephyr Charters
We made the most of the gorgeous beach and rolling tide by getting some photos of the two of them down by the shoreline, paddling and laughing in the waves and walking hand in hand. But the party was just about to get started! Zephyr Charters had a boat waiting at the harbour, and what lovely crew – they made us feel so welcome and were even happy for my husband Ryan to stand on the roof to capture some drone! Peninsula Picnic Co. had prepared a gorgeous sharing platter and the boat was decorated so beautifully. With drinks flowing, the party got under way and making the most of the location – Anna & Bob jumped in the water!
The Unforgettable DJ Jake Smith
Let’s talk about the beating heart of any great celebration — the music! The couple’s passion for music was infectious, and they brought in the ultimate maestro of beats, DJ Jake Smith. The couple’s first dance was epic, and the dance floor really did get wild! It made our job so much fun – and we really loved every minute.
Contrasting Sydney and the UK
Anna and Bob’s Sydney wedding was just the beginning and we’re lucky enough to be capturing the second part of their wedding over in the UK this August. They’re having a wedding over at Broadfield Court in Herefordshire, for their UK friends and family. From the vibrant coastline of Sydney to the lush English countryside, we’re so excited to see what the second chapter holds for them!
Exploring New South Wales
One of the advantages of destination weddings is being able to explore the local area after the wedding’s finished. So after spending the day with Anna and Bob and their friends and family, we set off to explore New South Wales. We packed our bags, grabbed our cameras, and hit the road. First stop: Katoomba and the Blue Mountains. This place was truly special to us and like nowhere else we’d ever been. Ryan captured some amazing Drone Footage whilst we were there. The landscape was genuinely breath-taking, and the people were just so welcoming, it left us feeling truly at ease. We also spent a few days in Palm beach before the wedding and watching the sunrise (thank you jetlag!) at our local beach, was absolutely magical. The last few days of our adventure were spend in Central Sydney, which was fantastic too – I was mostly amazed by the food and hospitality again.
I don’t think this will be our only trip Down Under!
As I wrap this post up, I’m reminded of how lucky we were to go on this journey, and so many others with this amazing job! Anna and Bob are some of the nicest people you could meet, and it was so lovely that we could join them for this leg of their journey. I can’t wait to capture the contrasting scenery of their UK wedding at Broadfield Court in August. Life as a photographer and videographer is full of surprises, and I’m grateful for every click of the shutter around the world. I just really hope we get to return to Australia one day!
