Devonshire Arms Burnsall Yorkshire Dales Wedding Photography

Burnsall is such a beautiful place in the Yorkshire Dales for wedding photography. This area of stone built villages in Northern England was quietly tranquil for Sammy & Richard’s relaxed, laid-back celebration. Surrounded by broadleaved woodlands and limestone ravines, Bolton Abbey estate really does encompass the beauty of Yorkshire. The Devonshire Arms Hotel and Spa is a 17th century inn in the Yorkshire Dales full of character, perfect to get married at for such a lovely couple.

Bridal Preparations in This Country House

The romantic charm of this idyllic setting, was a great backdrop for Sammy her bridesmaids, and the lovely Mother of the Bride. Of course so much laughter filled the room, and there was a chilled, relaxed vibe. A card from Sammy’s husband-to-be set off a few emotions! All the while, the lovely Amy Lauren MUA who specialises in HD airbrushing, applied the ladies’ make up in the adjoining bedroom. I captured the fun of the morning prep before the bride to be got into her beautiful dress. Sammy had got her dress from Kimberley Anne Bridal Boutique in Clitheroe. Once in her Wedding Dress and with her veil expertly placed, she walked out of the bedroom to beaming faces from the bridesmaids. I nipped to see the groomsmen and Richard, whilst they popped on ties and buttonholes. They were all looking very smart in their wedding attire! Again, such a pleasant and laid-back group of lads, and their lovely dog Isla who I couldn’t resist! Check out my recent post on Dogs At Weddings for more lovely pictures of Isla and other pups, tips & tricks.

A Beautiful Ceremony in an Ornate Room

The Groom Richard and the rest of the wedding guests waited in the Devonshire Arm’s ornate Ceremony Room. Anxious for the arrival of the bride, they chatted between themselves. Sammy walked in with the Father of the Bride, who absolutely beamed with pride from start to finish. Their lovely greyhound Isla sat patiently at the back of the room. Sammy & Richard were clearly so in love whilst they exchanged rings and made their vows to each other. Their first kiss was beautiful and they exited the room to lots of happy faces and applause.

Confetti & Photos Under Bright Blue Skies

After their picture perfect ceremony, we headed out to the natural beauty of the surrounding scenery. The bright blue skies were the perfect frame for a confetti tunnel, and some family photos. After the new bride and groom had mingled with guests and enjoyed a drink or two with loved ones, we went for a walk around the grounds. Taking in the views and admiring the scenery, I snapped away at this happy couple. The countryside around Bolton Abbey Estate really is outstanding.

A Warm and Welcoming Reception with Great Speeches

The speeches filled the room with laughter and definitely a few tears. The warmth and love between this group was so apparent. I really enjoyed hearing stories and interesting facts about the couple and their families and friends during the toasts. After the couple enjoyed their wedding breakfast, we headed back out with my Canon Cameras. The sunset was approaching and a the light had turned lovely and golden. Surrounded my fields and trees, I captured some picturesque imagery.

Emotions, Sparklers and Evening Arrivals

Sammy & Richard are such a genuinely humble and generous couple. They waited to greet their evening guests one by one in the foyer meaning they could thank them for making the journey to see them. Some guests who had travelled particularly far brought tears to their eyes. The gratitude was overwhelming and it was so nice to see. Outside we had the fun and excitement of a Sparkler Exit. As a wedding photographer, these can be a little chaotic to say the least, however, the wedding guests were so well behaved! I didn’t have any problems helping the couple achieve the images they had hoped for. The first dance and cake cutting wasn’t long behind and there were SO many good dance moves that I couldn’t help stay a little longer!

Such a pleasure to work with all of this wonderful family and I hope I cross paths with them again!
