Elegant Winter Wedding Photography Butley Priory Suffolk

I popped down to Woodbridge on the Suffolk Coast last winter to be Polly & Adam’s Wedding Photographer and it was SO good. Butley Priory was a 14th Century Monastery in the wilds of Suffolk’s Heritage Coast, and it packs a punch when you first see it. It is STUNNING. It is now used as an epic, elegant Wedding Venue which could have been pulled right out of a fairy tale. This privately owned house is so unique and such a pleasure to shoot at! The grandeur really does hit you as you come up the drive. Such a charm of it’s own, and really fits with the deep, rich, wintry colours of this couple’s colour scheme.

Cupcakes and Gorgeous Window Light at Bridal Prep

I met Polly and her bridesmaids in the gorgeous Bridal Suite at Butley Priory. The room had such gorgeous huge windows that painted the room full of light. I sat back, snapping away at them enjoying getting ready, only stopping to eat cupcakes! The bride’s lovely cake-maker Beth Haxby Cakes had brought us up some lovely cupcakes that were SUCH a good breakfast! The gorgeous ladies did their own make up, and all looked beautiful. After the morning loveliness, I headed down to the ceremony room.

Stunning Ceremony Room

The Ceremony Room at Butley Priory really has to be seen in person. Its stunning architecture makes a photographer’s life really easy! The stunning floral decorations from The Floral Fairy really did add something special. My second shooter Jess and I snapped away at guests arriving and Adam standing waiting for his bride to arrive. Polly walked down the aisle with her mum, and you could see the glee and emotion on both of their faces. Adam greeted her with a huge smile and they began their vows. Such a beautiful ceremony to watch, there was plenty of tears and giggles. It had me grinning behind my camera! They exchanged rings and had their first kiss as a married couple in front of their family & friends.

Gorgeous Wintry Backdrop for the Reception

After the ceremony, the newlyweds came outside to a gorgeous confetti exit held by all their friends and family. Gary from Kent Mustang Hire was waiting outside to whisk them off for a little drive around the countryside together. This gave them some time alone to take in how exciting this day really is! When they returned, we shot some group shots and had a walk around the grounds, capturing video footage and photo stills of them. The stunning wintry light and the gorgeous countryside made for an idyllic backdrop.

Cosy inside for the Evening

The fireplaces and snug, cosy corners of Butley Priory made for a perfect evening reception. The Bride & Groom, and their guests enjoyed each other’s company in the warmth. There was great fun brought by Magnificent Mirror Photobooth too. As the night went on, they had a band playing some great songs. The entertainment brought the guests to the dance floor, and we had a great time! We were sad to go, but had had an amazing day with this couple and their guests.

Please have a look at their Wedding Film and of course some of my favourite images of theirs below.
