I knew Liz from secondary school, so it was so lovely to go down to her wedding and see her surrounded by all her friends and family! I popped down to the Old Hall Ely in Cambridgeshire to photograph Liz and Sam’s Video Game themed wedding last Autumn. This restored Jacobean Manor has stunning views of the surrounding Ely countryside which is great, as I’m so at home in the country! In the distant you can see three ornamental lakes and Ely Catherdral. This lovely little quaint town in Cambridgeshire has a great welcoming atmosphere that is ideal for a wedding.
Hair & Makeup at this Country House
Liz and her bridesmaids were upstairs getting hair and makeup done when I arrived by the lovely Flash Kate MUA. You can’t deny the grounds of this country house are effortlessly breathtaking. Liz’s wedding dress from The Tailor’s Cat, sparkled away – hung on the edge of the four poster bed. Her shoes sat on the floor near the bottom of the gown and there was a buzz in the room as bridesmaids chatted and everyone got ready. The room was beautiful and I could see all the unique little details as I looked around. The veil was draped near a window and I could see some hand embroidered icons from Zelda which made me so happy! This really was such a unique and stunning thing! What a brilliant way to incorporate something you love into the day! So elegant too.
Custom Video Game Details
Liz’s veil was the first in a series of custom video game details they had included in their big day. Their wedding was sophisticated and elegant, yet they had made sure they personalised it with things that brought them joy. As avid gamers, this creative couple included lots of little details from games they loved. Their tables were decorated with hand painted centrepieces with characters from their favourite games, such as Super Mario, Pokemon & Crash Bandicoot. Princess Peach took pride of place at the end of the aisle in the Ceremony Room.
Ceremony in the Great Hall
As the guests gathered in the Great Hall, Sam waited for his bride-to-be at the front of the room. Liz entered holding her flowers by Thyme on St Mary’s, to huge smiles all around. She looked gorgeous. They beamed great big smiles at each other all through the vows and exchange of rings. Even having a little giggle when they both stumbled on a couple of words!
Outside for the Drinks Reception and Stunning Views
After the ceremony we all went outside for their drinks reception, and they had a magician, Dean Maudsley Sleight of Hand, who definitely impressed a lot of guests! The stunning Cambridgeshire countryside provided a lush backdrop. There was so much laughter throughout this whole day! With some brilliant alternative tracks on the Piano by Piano DJ UK. The meal followed and the amazingly decorated tables made everyone smile as we entered the marquee. The cake by Regency Cakes stood proudly in the corner.
Food, Speeches & Lots of Dancing
The speeches were great. So much emotion and laughter throughout. Plenty of love, laughter and thank yous – a winning trilogy. After capturing this lovely moment, and everyone enjoying themselves every one ate some gorgeous food. We then went outside into the brisk wintry air and had some fun with sparklers! Their first dance followed not long after and it did not disappoint. So beautiful to see them so in love, and then their guests flooded the dance floor and it was so epic!
I wish all the best to these two.
