The Wellbeing Farm has got to be one of my favourite Lancashire wedding venues to photograph at – actually probably my favourite full stop!. Its quirkiness, individuality and breath-taking countryside views, shine through making it so appealing to the alternative, fun-loving couples.
Who Doesn’t Love Llamas?!
Okay so when I was younger (no joke) – my friends used to call me Charli Palmer Llama Farmer – hah! – and since then, llamas and alpacas have been a huge love of mine. So when Abby & Tom got in touch with me to be their wedding photographer at Wellbeing Farm – the home of llama weddings in Yorkshire, I couldn’t wait! This venue has got everything that a quirky, creative couple couple want – myself included. This award winning venue has now made it into the Top 30 venues in the UK which is an incredible achievement, and well deserved – Have a look at this Article!
A Windy Day for a Wedding in Lancashire
I met with Abby and her bridesmaids in a little hotel room not too far away from Wellbeing Farm on a very blustery morning. It was a hive of laughter, make up and hair – after taking some snaps I headed out, past their wedding car – a VW Campervan! – and made my way to their Wedding Venue. I was met by guests clutching at their hats, and bunting waving in the wind, but mostly I was overwhelmed by the quirky decor and the breathtaking countryside views that surrounded us. This place has bags of personality and is not afraid to show it!
Quirky Decor, Galore!
So this place definitely has the wow factor, but it also has so much attention to detail, and I think that’s what makes it so successful. The vintage tractor, flat caps, wheelbarrow, quirky signs, llama pictures and rustic wooden bits and bobs all around, that complemented some handmade table toppers, made by the groom himself, all came together to make it so wonderful and colourful. The ceremony was lit up by 4000 fairy lights in and around the barn, and their vows were lovely and emotional and we were treated to some lighthearted readings by some friends and family. The talented singer Zoe Kyoti entertained us all day with her beautiful acoustic guitar and singing.
Did someone say Bow-Tie Wearing Llamas?
So I was ridiculously excited for this bit. I was promised llamas and I got them! Now unfortunately because of the super windy conditions, it took us a bit longer to get them to relax, but we got some lovely pictures of the newlyweds with these cute creatures, and of course the donkeys too. The confetti was made all the more dramatic by the crazy wind, and their faces lit up as they walked down the aisle of all their loved ones.
Cake, Dancing & a Live Band – That’s How to Party!
So the evening was no disappointment at all – it had a great party atmosphere, and really carried on the feeling of the whole day. The array of cakes was a wash with colour, – their Wedding Cake was made by Just Gorjuss Cakes and the speeches were lovely, funny and full of laughter and tears. The live music was brilliant, and the dancing – I’m sure – carried on for hours after I left! Abby’s Dad’s band Big Lix were a total hit!
The love this family has, and genuine enjoyment of spending time with each other shines through and it was an absolute honour to spend Abby & Tom’s wedding with them all!
Don’t forget to watch their amazing video too!
