I was introduced to Nikki & Carl not long before their big day – and I am so glad that I got the chance to photograph their relaxed, elegant wedding at Soughton Hall. This Georgian Country house was the perfect setting for the newlyweds to celebrate tieing the knot. Full of charm, character and warmth, this exclusive boutique hotel was the perfect country retreat for this Bride and Groom to celebrate exchanging their vows. The lovely, fun couple and their wedding guests had this venue as their private stately home for the day – what a treat! The day began at the family home, before a local church for the ceremony and vows. After a few pictures we headed to the border of North Wales and Cheshire, to Soughton Hall to celebrate! The hot summers day beamed down on us all, and helped me capture the fun, energy and joy of the day with my camera.

Bridal Preparations at the Family Home
I drove down from Yorkshire the day before so I was in Wales ready for the wedding the day before. Setting off from a local hotel first thing, I not long later arrived on the morning of the wedding to the family home where Nikki and her bridesmaids were getting ready. The Bride to be was getting her hair and make up done by her lovely professionals, and there was a buzz of energy as everyone was excited for the big day ahead! There were so many laughs and I had such a great time getting to know this little family before we set off to the nuptials.
Picturesque Church to Exchange Vows & Rings
St Gwynins Church in Dwygyfylchi is a gorgeous church set in a picturesque backdrop. It really is slap bang in some gorgeous countryside! The ceremony was lovely, full of genuine love and emotion from both of them, and of course a few hymns for good measure. The newly married couple left to a confetti tunnel, and after a couple of pictures near the entrance we all set off to the next venue.
Celebration at the Visually Striking Soughton Hall
Approaching up the sweeping driveway, it’s impossible not to be wowed by the leading lines of this beautiful, picturesque setting and it’s landscaped gardens. Set under a bright blue sky, it just looked so inviting! Guests were greeted by an outside drinks reception as they arrived. Soon followed by the bride and groom and in their classic vintage wedding car. The walled gardens and spectacular grounds made a stunning backdrop to capture some relaxed couple portraits, with minimal posing and lots of laughs! We also used the lawn at the front of the property for a few group photos of the bridal party and friends and family.
An Elegant Marquee for the Wedding Feast and Dancing
After plenty of drinks in the sunshine, the guests headed into the cosy reception room, with its wood-panelled walls and large windows. Through the other side the elegant marquee was being set up ready to cater for their wedding feast. There was amazing food and some fantastic speeches from some guests including the best man, groom and father of the bride. After capturing some brilliant laughter and tears during the toasts, everyone ate and then headed outside for a sparkler exit. It was a bit like organised chaos, but we had a laugh! Then the couple went and cut the cake and had their first dance.
All in all and absolutely fantastic day and I wish Nikki & Carl all the happiness in the world. Such a lovely couple! Definitely a day to remember.
Love your work!
Thanks a lot Janina!
