Having grown up in Halifax, it’s always so nice to be able to shoot a wedding in a local town or city. Leeds is the largest city in West Yorkshire and is famed for its urban lifestyle. Its live music venues, bars and modern yet industrial vibe make it the heart of a lively, diverse community. This vibrant, Northern city is where Becky & Adam celebrated their wedding. Have a look through some of my favourite images from their day and don’t forget to give their film a watch!
Let’s Get Ready!
On the morning of their wedding, I met Becky and her bridesmaids – and one bridesman! – for Bridal Prep. Absolutely not forgetting her gorgeous dog Barnaby! The house was full of lovely people, some of who I have met a couple of times now! Have a look at Rheanne and Ryan’s wedding – I shot this lovely couple in Leeds too, and Rheanne was one of Becky’s bridesmaids. The atmosphere was one of excitement and anticipation for the big day.
A Wedding Ceremony at Leeds Town Hall
On arrival we were greeted by the fantastic architecture of Leeds. The town hall itself is astonishing. Adam was already inside when we arrived and was chatting with his family and groomsman in the lobby. After a bit of a wait, the family made their way into the grand ceremony room. After all the guests were seated, the music started playing and Becky‘s flower girls and bridesmaids entered. Followed closely by the stunning bride and her dad. A wonderful ceremony took place which was followed by rapturous applause and confetti outside on the steps of Leeds town hall.
A True Urban City Centre Occasion
The newlyweds and their Bridal party walked through the city towards their reception venue, taking in the fantastic contemporary architecture. We stopped for a few portraits on the way, using the urban landscape as a backdrop. Tall striking buildings reached up into the skyline all around us. We were flooded with gorgeous golden light from the oncoming sunset and surrounded by epic backgrounds.
The Good Luck CLub Leeds
After a stunning walk throuhg the city, we arrived at The Good Luck Club. The bride and groom were loudly greeted by their friends and family as they entered the fabulous good luck club. The DJ entertained all night and encouraged lots of dancing, a few games and a great atmosphere.
They sure know how to party in Leeds!
Having grown up in Yorkshire and after spending time in Leeds with friends when I was younger – it’s clear they definitely know how to party. This fantastic vibrant nightlife was definitely a key part in the event. After a fantastic first dance, the music was turned up, glow-sticks handed out and everyone got involved in the rowdy dancefloor. A proper party!
